Our Story

Twenty years on Raeburn Place

An independent tailoring shop in the heart of Stockbridge, hand-finishing alterations, repairs and bespoke work, one piece at a time.

On Raeburn Place

A small shop with
a long memory.

For more than two decades, the bright orange shopfront at 65 Raeburn Place has been a fixture of Stockbridge life. Inside, the work happens the way it always has: carefully, by hand, and in person.

We are not a chain or a drop-off counter. We are the people who pin your hem, re-cut your jacket, rescue your favourite trousers and bead a bridal gown back to perfection. Regulars have trusted us for years, and many of their children now do too.

How We Work

Three things we never compromise on.

01

Personally Handled

Every piece is seen, fitted and finished by hand, never passed down an anonymous line. You deal with the people doing the work.

02

Two Decades of Craft

An independent shop that has earned its regulars by doing things properly, season after season, for over twenty years on Raeburn Place.

03

Anything Fabric

If it is made of fabric, bring it in. From everyday repairs to specialist beadwork, kilts, leather and curtains, every piece is treated with the same care.

Clothes are meant to be worn. We make sure they are.
Our Guiding Belief

Our Promise

Keeping clothes in use.

Orange Seamstress exists to extend the life of the things people love, to make new ones fit the way they should, and to do it with the kind of care that is becoming harder to find. Every item entrusted to us is treated with attention, respect, and a genuine commitment to the person who brought it in.
